William Gaudinez

As a graduate of UST majoring in Advertising Art , William A. Gaudinez has worked in design projects and also dabbled in cel animation for producing video tv commercials way back in the early 1980s , His early childhood fascination with comic books has led to his keen interest in creating figures both from life and from memory .So while he went on with his day job in advertising by producing animated cartoon characters and innovating special effects for tv commercials , he decided to break the monotomous grinding job by visiting his mother’s brother , Angelito Antonio . Soon his uncle Angelito Antonio and Norma Belleza has challenged him to try working on canvas by painting in oils after her aunt Norma gave him some useful instructions on how to use this new medium to prepare him in joining the Metrobank painting competition in 1984. Much to his surprise he was included in the top one hundred entries as finalists. This paved the way for him to consider shifting from doing advertising work to creating paintings . He has had solo art exhibitions in the New York city , Australia , Singapore , Manila and group art exhibitions in Athens Greece , Seoul south Korea . He was a recipient of the 1996 Oceasie international art residency program in Nantes, Cholet , Malakoff and St. Nazaire in France , and he was also the official Philippine representative to the 2007 Uijae Art Studio residency program in Unlimdong Dong Gu , Gwangju, South Korea and also was the official Philippine representative to the 2016 Grand Baz Art , le festival international d ‘ art marginal in Gisors France

He was the recipient of the 2011 Patnubay ng Sining at Kalinangan award for sculpture in celebration of the city of manila’s 440th foundation day , he received the 3rd prize and best entry for the 1994 and 1997 Instituto Cervantes Letras y Figuras Painting Competition
